Description
A thoroughly modernist set of cushions yet the weave structure and patterns are among the oldest in Europe, originating in Scandinavia.
The many bands of monksbelt patterning make these one of the slowest to weave as the patterned flats intersect the twill cloth and build a double cloth. Two shuttles are used to create the weave, alternating at each throw. The back of the cushions are woven in a coordinating plain soft grey twill.
Once the cloth is cut from the loom I first scour it to remove the spinning oils and then wash it (all by hand) to full it until I am satisfied that I have a well integrated, soft and comforting piece of cloth.
Following this the cloth is carefully flat dried, steam pressed and cut to make each individual cushion.
Each cushion has a special duck feather cushion insert – made in Britain and cruelty free.
These are one-offs and I only have one or two of each. However they can be ordered from me and will take about one week to be woven and made up depending on my other work. They can also be woven in your own colourway by commission. There is a small additional charge for custom weaving to cover the process f=of selecting colours, sampling, etc. To place an order for additional cushions or enquire about a custom order please use the contact form on my contact page to discuss your requirements.
