Lichen grey lambswool throw – ‘Coverlet’
Part of her new season ‘Coverlet’ range of throws and cushions, the pattern is inspired by American coverlets and ancient German block weave designs. It is woven in a reversing three shaft twill which presents the reverse colourway on the other side.
Lichen grey is a subtle greenish grey colour reminiscent of the lichen that grew on my old apple trees when I lived in Cornwall. It is also like the colour of antique unbleached linen textiles. Its a fabulously soft alternative to grey and works well with wood and cane. The yarn is 100% best quality lambswool which comes from two British yarn spinners.
Each throw is hand woven by Madeleine in her London / Surrey studio. It is then cut from the loom, scoured and washed to ‘full’ the cloth, and finally hand brushed, making it wonderfully light, warm and soft. The edges are blanket stitched on a vintage blanket stitching machine.
Perfect for autumn days and winter nights by the fire or on the sofa, or for adding a bit of extra warmth, colour and style to your bed.
In the summer it can double up as a picnic blanket.
These blanket throws are also proving very popular as a ‘blanket shawl’, thrown around the shoulders over a long dress, or skinny jeans!
