My ‘Ikat’ design is inspired by traditional, typically striped, ikat textiles. It is a further development in my personal challenge to create as many different designs as possible from one warp threading. The softened and blurred boundaries in this design give an ikat appearance yet are created through the manipulation of the different blocks of warp threads in my original ‘Dukagang’ block design.
Like my other handwoven lambswool throws, the ‘Ikat’ throw is woven in a soft and drapey 3 shaft reversing twill and the contrast in colours in the pattern comes about because of the way that this twill weave gives the opposite colour on the reverse side of the cloth.
The yarn is a beautifully soft 100% lambswool, dyed, blended and spun in Scotland to give a complex but subtle heathered yarn.
Dimensions: approximately 190cm x 110 cm (78” x 43”)
Longer throws can be woven on commission. Please use the form on the contact page to send an enquiry.
