Description
Melyn is the Cornish word for yellow, and the yellow ochre of the Melyn Trevose Head throw represents the wind rippled sandy beaches and dunes that lie to east and west of Trevose Head.
It is the perfect gift, memento or keepsake for someone who adores the simple charms of family life on the beach, or a stroll among the sand dunes hunting out the rare and unusual flora and fauna of the lowland area below the headland itself. Something to remind you of wonderful times spent in the Padstow and Trevose Head area when it’s cold and winter dark.
The Melyn throw conjures up fun and family life, the health promoting sun, the opportunity to idle with a book whilst watching over children at play and looking out to Trevose Head and the sea, and the simple pleasure of walking the strandline and marvelling at the many different seashells found there.
It also symbolises the dune grassland – habitat of the rare White Sandhill Snail, an edible snail that you will find in clusters atop tall stems, baking in the sun, reminding us of the Mediterranean cliffs from where it originates. Amongst flora and fauna Melyn represents the Golden Samphire, Birdsfoot Trefoil commonly known as ‘Eggs and Bacon’, the Gorse, and Lady’s Bedstraw that adorn the coastal footpath.
