Description
The Trevose Head Collection I developed in honour of my favourite childhood haunt, which lies 5 miles west of Padstow, on the North Coast of Cornwall. Elvan is the mid grey throw which takes its name from the old Cornish word for greenstone. A particular type of greenstone. Blue Elvan, which is nevertheless a shade of grey, can be found on Trevose Head in North Cornwall.
The undulating grey pattern of the Elvan throw echoes the deep folds of ancient Devonian slate and greenstone that forms the headland, and speaks to all those who love the rocks and caves, blowholes, and the blustery, battered and barren Dinas Head.
The Elvan throw also hints at what lies hidden below the green surface – Bronze and Iron Age archaeological cists and burial mounds, stone axes, flint arrowheads and shell middens.
Like all my wool throws it is handwoven by me using the softest of Shetland type lambswool which comes to me from a small spinning mill in Scotland,
Approximate dimensions are: 195 cm long x 110 cm wide
